Frequently Asked Questions

It’s natural to have some questions, here are some of the most common ones I’m asked but please feel free to Contact Me if yours isn’t answered here.

How can therapy help?

Research shows that having a safe space to talk can reduce stress, boost mood, and enhance resilience. Therapy offers a unique experience compared to conversations with friends or family. Working with a qualified professional helps you better understand yourself. Many find that therapy not only addresses immediate challenges but also builds stronger coping skills for the future.

How can I choose a therapist?

When selecting a therapist, it’s crucial to find someone you feel comfortable connecting with. I encourage you to reach out to a few therapists before making your decision.

To help with this, I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone call prior to our initial consultation, where we can discuss any questions or concerns you might have.

What happens in a session?

Sessions offer a space to share your current concerns and feelings. We will explore your thoughts and emotions in a non-judgmental environment at your pace. My role is to support you in understanding what’s happening and navigating life’s challenges.

How many sessions will I need?

I usually say to clients that we begin with 8 sessions to build a solid foundation for our work together. This allows us to establish trust, explore your concerns, and assess progress. Afterwards, we’ll review your progress and decide together whether to continue or conclude based on your needs and goals.

Does what we talk about remain confidential?

Everything you say is confidential. The only exception to this would be if I have a concern that you are a threat to yourself or the safety of anyone else, or if I’m required to by law. If this becomes necessary, I will endeavour to discuss it with you first.

Do you accept clients through private medical insurance?

Not at this time.
